The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to high school graduates who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language. The award is given by the State Department of Education with a certificate and a seal that can be applied to a diploma. The Seal of Biliteracy signals a student is ready for both a career or college, and an engagement with the world as a global citizen.

APPLICATION PROCESS
The Seal of Biliteracy Application is completed during the second semester of a student's senior year. The deadline for the application is May 1st, and it is to be turned into Mr. Nuttall in his office located in the Counseling Area.

PATHWAY TO FLUENCY
- Students demonstrate their fluency in English by completing four years of English Courses at the high school level.
- Students demonstrate their fluency in a separate language through the examination process
- IB Exams in French or Spanish offered at Hellgate
- AP Exams in French or Spanish offered at Hellgate
- STAMP Language Proficiency Test offered at Hellgate
