Fall Kindergarten Start Information 2024 - 2025
- Wednesday, August 28th: ONLY kindergarten students attend school this day. Round Up Day 😊
This will be a day for every registered kindergartner to come to Paxson with their parents/guardians. Students will visit on a staggered schedule throughout the day to complete kindergarten screening assessments while parents/guardians fill out necessary school paperwork (help will be available).
- Thursday, August 29th: First day of school for 1st through 5th.
No kindergarten students come to school on this day. Kindergarten teachers use this time to support first graders and to analyze kindergarten screening data to create equitable class lists. Class lists will be posted by the end of the day.
- Friday, August 30th: Please bring the supplies listed on the Kindergarten General Supply List.
This will be a half-day for kindergarten students and their parent(s)/guardian, 8:10 a.m. to - 11 a.m. 1st through 5th have a full day of school. Parents/guardians and children will visit their newly assigned classroom and will have the opportunity to tour the school building. Your child will also experience going through the lunch line to get a sack lunch prior to going home at 11 a.m.
- Monday, September 2nd: No School _ Labor Day
See you tomorrow!
- Tuesday, September 3rd:
This is the first full day of school for kindergarten. Buses will run as scheduled.
Where do I line up in the morning on the playground?
- See attached map.
- First bell rings at 8:08 a.m. Students are in their line up area by 8:08 a.m.
- Teachers come out to the playground to greet their students and walk them into the school building. If you are waiting on the playground with your child(ren), this is where you say "goodbye".
- Separating from parents can be hard for some children at the beginning of the school year. Know they are safe and loved and will be well taken care of. It is important for you, the parent/guardian, to have a "goodbye" routine and to follow the routine. If the routine is to say goodbye, hug, say "I love you!", and walk away, follow that routine. The staff at Paxson will help your child(ren) to enter the building. It usually takes 30 seconds to a minute for a child to fall into the daily routine, in which they are smiling and laughing with their peers. I fully understand how hard that can be to walk away from your child(ren) when they are upset, but it is important for adults to model following routines and expectations at school.
